Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was released four and a half years after Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse"s original release date was March 2024 — only one year after its predecessor. The Spider-Verse threequel was delayed indefinitely, though the team continued to work on the project, with producer and writer Christopher Miller confirming that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse"s production was underway in September 2024.
Three months after Christopher Miller"s last update, Deadline confirms that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has found its two directors, Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson, both of whom had already played key roles in the previous movies. The official Spider-Verse account on X confirmed the news:

Thompson"s announcement is great news. Persichetti and Thompson understand the Spider-Verse"s story and visual style, and they probably know what kind of obstacles the final installment could encounter. The Spider-Verse"s first two movies were massive hits, and their quality is evident in their attention to detail. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse can"t be the exception, hence why it will likely take much longer to complete than it seemed at first.
