Elizabeth Olsen’s 2025 MCU Return Creates The Perfect Opportunity For Marvel To Challenge Scarlet Witch’s Biggest Franchise Streak

Elizabeth Olsen"s future as the Scarlet Witch could include her biggest streak in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Olsen has been in the MCU for a decade, with the actress having first appeared as Wanda Maximoff in Captain America: The Winter Soldier"s post-credits scene back in 2014. Currently, the Scarlet Witch"s MCU timeline is at a dark point for the character, as Wanda became a villain in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, killing many in a multiverse-wide murder spree. That culminated in Wanda realizing she was wrong in the end and sacrificing herself to destroy all the Darkholds.
While Wanda is currently dead in the MCU, the character"s return seems to be only a matter of time. WandaVision"s first spinoff series, Agatha All Along, featured many teases about the Scarlet Witch"s possible return in upcoming MCU projects. One of Wanda"s sons, Billy Maximoff, played a major role in it, befriending Agatha Harkness, the Scarlet Witch"s MCU nemesis, by the end of the show. Marvel Studios" Kevin Feige has commented on the Scarlet Witch"s return, claiming that they "are excited to find out when and how Scarlet Witch can return." A return could lead to her best MCU streak.
Elizabeth Olsen Has A New MCU Project In 2025 The Scarlet Witch Actress Returns For A TV Show Close After a year with few releases, including only Deadpool & Wolverine on the movie side, the MCU is coming back for a packed 2025. Recently, Disney+ shared a sneak peek at all of the MCU TV shows that are going to premiere on the streaming service in the next year. One of those projects is Marvel Zombies. The TV-MA animated series is going to feature many MCU actors reprising their roles, and it turns out that Elizabeth Olsen will return as the Scarlet Witch in 2025 through the animated series, connecting to a previous appearance.
Olsen already has a past with Marvel Zombies, in a way. The upcoming animated series spins out of an episode of What If...? season 1, where a zombie version of the Scarlet Witch appeared. However, Wanda was one of the many characters who showed up in the episode but never spoke. As such, Olsen did not voice the Scarlet Witch in that first iteration of the Marvel Zombies universe. The zombie Scarlet Witch was last seen fighting the Hulk as survivors escaped in What If... Zombies?! Based on her immense power, Scarlet Witch should play a major role in Marvel Zombies.
Elizabeth Olsen’s Biggest Scarlet Witch Streak Has Been Repeated Twice The Actress Has Appeared In Many MCU Projects Close Elizabeth Olsen"s presence in the MCU for a decade has led to the actress having two major streaks in the franchise. While the MCU"s Multiverse Saga has seen characters go missing for years, the Infinity Saga was more consistent when it came to heroes showing up. That period was responsible for Olsen"s first major streak of MCU appearances, which took place between 2014 and 2016. The actress debuted in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, then appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron before being key to Captain America: Civil War"s plot, making it three years in a row in the MCU.

12 The Multiverse Saga has treated Wanda Maximoff better — in terms of appearances — than most characters. Olsen was the star of Marvel Studios" first TV series on Disney+, WandaVision, with the actress coming back as a villain in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and different versions of the Scarlet Witch in What If...? season 2. Those appearances allowed Olsen to once again appear in the MCU for three years in a row, from 2021 to 2023, matching her previous streak from the MCU"s Infinity Saga. However, there is a good chance those streaks will now get passed.
Elizabeth Olsen’s Marvel Return Could Break The Scarlet Witch’s MCU Appearance Record Wanda Maximoff's Biggest MCU Streak Could Be About To Begin Close Elizabeth Olsen"s current longest streak of years appearing in the MCU is three in a row, which she has repeated twice. Now, the actress"s confirmed 2025 return in Marvel Zombies could be the start of her biggest franchise streak so far, as there is potential for Olsen to appear in the MCU consecutively for at least four years. Marvel Zombies would be Olsen"s only 2025 Scarlet Witch appearance, but 2026 could see Wanda return from the dead in one of two projects, which are a major movie and an interesting TV series.

Due to her relationship with Paul Bettany"s Marvel character, it would make sense for Olsen to appear as the Scarlet Witch in Marvel Studios" Vision series. The project is reportedly aiming for a 2026 release, with James Spader reprising his role as Ultron, which makes Wanda"s return even more likely due to her connection to the villain. The other 2026 MCU project that could feature the Scarlet Witch is Avengers: Doomsday. Wanda Maximoff"s redemption for her murder spree could come on the biggest stage possible. Her powers and multiverse knowledge could help the Avengers defeat Robert Downey Jr."s Doctor Doom.
After that, Olsen"s Scarlet Witch could return for another Avengers movie, helping end the Multiverse Saga. 2027"s Avengers: Secret Wars could follow the comic book event of the same name and end with the multiverse being restored by some characters. Due to her reality-altering powers, that task could fall to Elizabeth Olsen"s Scarlet Witch. Appearing from 2025 to 2027 would allow Olsen to match her previous MCU streak of appearances, but a teased Scarlet Witch movie possibly coming in 2028 could let her break that record. Spinoffs from Agatha All Along and Vision could even make that streak go further.
Will A Scarlet Witch Movie Happen? Wanda Maximoff's Return Has Been Teased Heavily A Scarlet Witch movie would be the best way to ensure that Olsen manages to break her previous MCU record. Agatha All Along featured many teases that the Scarlet Witch might not be exactly dead after all or that the character will at least come back to life in the near future. Adding to that, WandaVision and Agatha All Along creator Jac Schaeffer wants to see a Scarlet Witch movie happen. A Scarlet Witch movie would fit in with what Marvel is doing with WandaVision"s other lead character, Paul Bettany"s Vision.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness getting near the $1 billion mark shows Wanda has great movie potential.
Bettany is set to lead another MCU project in the form of 2026"s Vision series. Given how Wanda Maximoff is more popular than Vision, it would make sense for the MCU to give the Scarlet Witch a new project to headline, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness getting near the $1 billion mark shows Wanda has great movie potential. Olsen previously said that she would be open to returning if "there"s a way to use her well" (Via Collider), and a Scarlet Witch solo movie would be that. After recent teases, the project is looking likely.
