Moon Knight: Jake Lockley"s Costume Explained By Designer

Summary
  • Jake Lockley's look was carefully crafted by the costume designer for a modern twist, using a bomber jacket and hat.
  • There appear to be no plans for Jake beyond season 1, but there's potential for exploration in season 2 if it happens.
  • Oscar Isaac's return as Moon Knight in the MCU remains uncertain, but fans hope for updates on a potential season 2.
The approach to bringing Jake Lockley's look into the Marvel Cinematic Universe gets explained by the Moon Knight costume designer. It has been nearly two years since the thrilling Moon Knight ending, which left the show on a major cliffhanger. After everything they overcame in Moon Knight season 1, it turns out that Khonshu had another motive, as a third alter entered the MCU in a climactic scene featuring Jake Lockley killing Arthur Harrow. While Moon Knight season 2 has yet to be confirmed, the mystery of Jake remains unsolved to this point.
In a new interview with Screen Rant to promote the upcoming Blu-Ray steelbooks for Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Moon Knight, Andor, and Obi-Wan Kenobi, costume designer Meghan Kasperlik spoke about adapting Jake's look for the MCU. When asked if there were any conversations about showing Jake in a Moon Knight costume had there been more time, Kasperlik explained her approach, sharing the following:
[indent] With Jake, it was only ever that one little Easter egg; we were never going beyond that. So it was really important for me to make sure that I was nailing it for Jake and that iconic moment. I took a similar silhouette of what he is in the comic and he's in the bomber jacket and the hat. So I'm like, 'Well, I need to modernize it,' so I use the Japanese raw denim fabric and then put a little Easter egg in that. But it was more about let's make the audience know this is who this character is. But there was never a discussion of building him into the world any more than that, for all those people wondering about the season 2, I guess!

Is this the MCU's version of Jake Lockley? How Jake Lockley Could Fit Into A Potential Moon Knight Season 2 Marc Spector's Third Alter Could Get His Own Moon Knight Costume Close Even though Moon Knight season 2 updates have been limited, it still begs the question of what the show could do with Jake if it were to be greenlit. If Moon Knight season 2 were to go forward, it would be the best thing for Jake since the MCU drama could finally explore this alter in more detail. If anything, Jake would likely be the alter to get more focus in Moon Knight season 2, given Khonshu's act in the finale.
Seeing how Jake would approach the mantle as Moon Knight would make for compelling storytelling, and could reveal what his costume would look like compared to Marc Spector and Steven Grant. With how tremendous Moon Knight and Mr. Knight's costumes were, it would be fun to see how the show could tackle a look for Jake. But until Marvel Studios and Disney+ decide to commit to Moon Knight season 2, Jake's storyline will remain benched for the time being.
Whether it be in Phase 6 or even after The Multiverse Saga is over, time will tell if Isaac will return as Moon Knight. However, given the actor's popularity and what he brought to the character of Moon Knight, it would be shocking if Marvel Studios didn't bring him back sooner rather than later. Hopefully, there will be some updates on Moon Knight sooner rather than later.
Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Moon Knight, Andor, and Obi-Wan Kenobi will release on 4K UHD and Blu-ray steelbook 4/30.
