Throughout the history of the MCU,
The Avengers have featured in a number of notably rewatchable movie scenes. The movies of the MCU have introduced many powerful and exciting heroes, but the Avengers remain the biggest name in the franchise. The team comprises some of Marvel’s greatest ever heroes, and has been shown on multiple occasions to assemble in order to combat threats to both Earth and the wider universe.
Earth’s mightiest heroes have enjoyed a number of memorable moments throughout the MCU’s movie timeline. Of those moments, not all are as rewatchable as others, as only a select few possess the unique qualities that make them enjoyable time after time. That said, between the team"s emotional scenes, comedic scenes, and scenes that are simply conceptually brilliant, there are a lot of rewatchable Avengers moments in the MCU.
10 The Scarlet Witch Becomes An Avenger Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) Though Avengers: Age of Ultron is often considered the worst Avengers movie in the MCU, it boasts many moments that are undeniably rewatchable. One such moment comes late in the movie, during the Battle of Sokovia, when Hawkeye gives a rousing speech to Wanda Maximoff, who is overwhelmed by the chaos unfolding around her. She then heroically emerges at a critical moment, using her magical abilities to help turn the tide of battle, making for an especially triumphant moment in her individual MCU story.
The moment is made rewatchable by its wider context. Having started the movie as a villain, it then becomes clear how young and vulnerable Wanda truly is.
Seeing Hawkeye inspire her to embrace her heroic potential is something that never gets old, and serves as one of the most pivotal moments in Wanda’s entire narrative arc in the MCU.
9 Age Of Ultron’s Opening Battle Scene Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) The MCU boasts many great opening scenes, and Age of Ultron’s remains incredibly rewatchable. With the team already established in the franchise, the second Avengers movie delves straight into the action, showing the team fighting against Hydra forces in a remote location in Sokovia. All of the MCU’s original Avengers are present, simultaneously establishing context vital for the movie’s story, introducing its cast, and delivering an excellent action scene.
What makes the scene so rewatchable is how
it embodies the best qualities of the MCU’s Avengers movies. It features moments of levity between the heroes, while also bringing fantastical violence and spectacle to proceedings. In many ways, it feels like an action scene lifted directly from the pages of the comics, and it picks up where The Avengers left off in terms of balancing multiple heroes in a single impressive action sequence.
8 The Avengers Argue Aboard The Helicarrier The Avengers (2012) 2012’s The Avengers was a landmark title for the superhero genre, as it marked the first time that heroes from multiple movies successfully appeared in an ambitious crossover. However, the formation of the team wasn’t a smooth process, with plenty of tension arising between its different members. It’s revealed that this was partly due to the manipulations of Loki and the Mind Stone, during a scene in which the Avengers intensely argue with one another.
The scene is rewatchable for many reasons, and has only improved with age. It’s brilliantly written, and features a few prescient nods to the MCU’s then-unseen future. Furthermore,
it gave voice to the clash of personalities and the building tension between the heroes and their respective egos, with a number of quotable exchanges taking place that make it a scene well worth revisiting.
7 The Avengers’ First Meeting The Avengers (2012) Before they truly became the team they were destined to be, the MCU’s original Avengers all had to meet for the very first time. Shortly after recovering Loki from Berlin, the Avengers meet their final founding member when Thor appears and abruptly snatches his adoptive brother from the Quinjet. The short scene features a handful of moments well worth rewatching, both from an entertainment and a subtext point of view.
The Avengers meeting one another for the first time is expertly written, with each hero’s respective personality being put on display in a deftly comedic manner.
Organically playing each individual off one another for laughs while also furthering the plot makes the scene one of the most underrated in the movie and a key part of The Avengers’ success. It’s an important moment in MCU history, and it remains as entertaining as ever, making it hugely rewatchable.
6 The Avengers Lose To Thanos Avengers: Infinity War (2018) When it comes to the most rewatchable movies in the MCU, Avengers: Infinity War ranks highly. The penultimate chapter in the Infinity Saga brought a staggering amount of Marvel characters together in a single movie, with the forces of the MCU joining to battle Thanos. The movie ends with Thanos emerging victorious, gathering the Infinity Stones and snapping half of all life out of existence. It’s a moment that’s endlessly rewatchable for its emotional impact alone.
Seeing one MCU hero after another turn to dust and disappear is heartbreaking, especially as it wasn’t initially clear which characters would survive. Even after multiple viewings,
the moment of Thanos’ snap still evokes the memory of the original shock upon the film’s release, and the performances of Infinity War’s cast make it all the more impactful. It’s perhaps the darkest moment in the MCU, making it as powerful as it is rewatchable.
5 Iron Man Vs Hulk Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) Avengers: Age of Ultron is full of great and memorable moments, many of which remain excellent upon revisiting the film. The manipulations of the Maximoff twins via Wanda’s chaos magic sees the Avengers unsettled by paranoia and fear, with the Scarlet Witch prompting Savage Hulk to rampage through the streets of Johannesburg. In order to subdue his teammate, Tony Stark showcases a new set of armor that makes for an incredible MCU moment.
Iron Man appearing in the Hulkbuster armor to fight Hulk is an epic MCU action scene. Hulk"s raw power against Stark’s unrivaled ingenuity lends an interesting thematic bent to the moment, with the use of visual effects to bring the scene to life making it an unforgettable spectacle.
Seeing two Avengers face off in such epic fashion without any real warning was a great moment, and one that continues to entertain upon rewatching Age of Ultron.
4 The MCU’s Fallen Heroes Return Avengers: Endgame (2019) Avengers: Endgame is by far one of the MCU’s most important movies, not just in its place in the franchise’s wider story, but also for several individual heroes. The movie’s climactic battle sees the surviving heroes of the MCU face off against Thanos and his forces, even after their ranks were cut in half at the end of Infinity War. One moment in particular sees the MCU’s fallen heroes return, emerging from portals to aid in the battle.
The moment of their appearance is a powerful one, and remains hugely rewatchable. Seeing so many characters join Endgame’s final battle all at once - especially after their supposed deaths – was a huge twist for the franchise. Also,
it gave Captain America the opportunity to finally speak his iconic catchphrase - "Avengers, assemble." - rousing the Avengers to assemble in an unforgettable movie moment for the team of Marvel heroes.
3 Team Cap Vs Team Iron Man Captain America: Civil War (2016) Captain America: Civil War is a movie that had a huge impact on Captain America’s MCU story, but also on the other Avengers in the franchise. After Tony Stark endorses the Sokovia Accords, the team is split in half, with most of the MCU’s heroes taking either Cap or Iron Man"s side regarding governmental oversight. The conflict boils over in the film’s final act, when Team Cap and Team Iron Man face off in an unforgettable airport battle.
The moment is every bit as epic as it is heartbreaking, as seeing former friends fighting against one another and heroes resigning themselves to become fugitives is a huge development in the MCU’s story. The scene also sees the introduction of Spider-Man to the Avengers, and Ant-Man"s first interactions with the team.
The moment brought the MCU’s heroes together in the worst possible way, making it as rewatchable as it is emotional.
2 Iron Man’s Sacrifice Avengers: Endgame (2019) Avengers: Endgame saw huge developments in the MCU’s story, concluding the Infinity Saga with an ending that was utterly devastating. The movie ends with the Avengers scraping a narrow victory over Thanos, as Iron Man was able to get the better of the Mad Titan by amassing the Infinity Stones mid-fight. The result is Tony Stark’s heroic sacrifice, harnessing the power of the Stones in order to stop Thanos for good.
Iron Man’s final moments are truly some of the best in the entire franchise. His sacrifice paid off years of character development and brought a satisfying yet emotional end to his narrative arc.
Seeing Iron Man give his life without hesitation in order to protect the universe from Thanos is a bittersweet moment that is both immensely rewatchable and consistently powerful, giving an iconic Avenger the heroic end he deserved.
1 The Avengers Assemble For The First Time The Avengers (2012) Of all the MCU moments featuring the Avengers, few are as triumphant as the team’s first true appearance. 2012’s The Avengers chronicles the gathering of six heroes in order to protect Earth from the threat of Loki’s invasion, with Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, and Hawkeye eventually becoming the iconic team in the film’s final act. The moment that they all stand together in battle for the first time is one of the best in the entire MCU.
From Bruce Banner’s iconic “I’m always angry” Hulk transformation to the sweeping shot that captures each member of the team, the scene is utterly perfect. Seeing the Avengers together in live-action for the first time in the MCU is something that has never gotten old, and it remains an epic movie moment backed by an uplifting score. Ultimately, this makes it the most rewatchable moment in the history of the
Marvel Cinematic Universe.
