Red Sox spoil Orioles' debut of Ubaldo Jimenez
BALTIMORE -- Mike Napoli homered and drove in four runs and John Lackey allowed three hits in six innings as the Boston Red Sox spoiled the Baltimore debut of Ubaldo Jimenez by beating the Orioles 6-2 Wednesday night.
David Ortiz hit a two-run homer off Jimenez (0-1) and Dustin Pedroia had four hits for the defending World Series champion Red Sox, now 1-1 after losing to Baltimore on opening day.
Nelson Cruz homered for the second time in two games for the Orioles, who mustered only six hits off Lackey and three relievers.
Jimenez allowed four runs, five hits and three walks in six innings. He struck out six.
Mariners 8, Angels 2 James Paxton pitched seven scoreless innings of two-hit ball and Robinson Cano drove in his first run for Seattle, which completed a three-game sweep in the team"s first series under new manager Lloyd McClendon.
Mike Zunino, Justin Smoak and Corey Hart all homered for Seattle.
