Deadpool & Wolverine Made Me Want To See 1 Marvel Universe In Live-Action Even More After 2023"s 95% RT Score Success

The introduction of a strange Deadpool variant in Deadpool & Wolverine gave me hope that the MCU could crossover with one of 2023's biggest Marvel movies to explore an unusual alternate universe in the Multiverse Saga. Although I initially expected Deadpool & Wolverine to bring the titular Merc with a Mouth into the MCU's main continuity permanently, and mark the end of Fox's X-Men universe of Earth-10005, I'm glad it didn't go down that way. Instead, Deadpool & Wolverine created the opportunity for more multiversal stories to be told, and I want one in particular.
As well as leaving the door open for more stories from Earth-10005 to be explored in the MCU, including those involving Fox's X-Men team, Deadpool & Wolverine also teased many more alternate worlds and variant characters. Most notably, I loved getting introduced to Wolverine's iconic variants and the Deadpool Corps in Deadpool & Wolverine, as any of these variants' worlds could now be featured in upcoming projects. While I'd love for Lady Deadpool, Zenpool or Cowboypool to get developed further, there's one Deadpool variant I really hope returns.

The Deadpool Corps Introduced 1 Deadpool Variant I’m Very Excited About Deadpool 2099 Was Part Of The MCU's Deadpool Corps One version of the Merc with a Mouth that I wasn't expecting to see in Deadpool & Wolverine was Warda Wilson, a.k.a. Deadpool 2099. Warda Wilson was the daughter of Wade Wilson and Shiklah, Queen of the Underworld, in Marvel Comics, though Wade had no knowledge of her existence until she attacked the surface world and imprisoned him, forcing him to watch C-SPAN on repeat for decades. Warda took up the mantle of Deadpool in her father's place, becoming the Deadpool of 2099 AD with her mechanical armor.
Related The Deadpool Corps' MCU Return Would Be Perfect For Avengers: Secret Wars For 1 Major Reason The Deadpool Corps entered the MCU in Deadpool & Wolverine, and the team could play a bigger role in Avengers: Secret Wars, being part of a key plot.
I never expected to see Deadpool 2099 in live-action, but I was thrilled when she appeared as part of the Deadpool Corps. I was also happy that Warda Wilson's debut implies that the 2099 universe from Marvel Comics, dubbed Earth-928, is somewhere out there in live-action. This makes me hopeful that Earth-928 could be explored further in the MCU's future, especially with the Multiverse Saga heading straight towards Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, and this could bring Deadpool 2099 and other 2099-themed variants into the MCU.
Exploring Earth-2099 In Live-Action Could Bring Deadpool 2099 & Spider-Man 2099 Together Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse's Spider-Man 2099 Could Make The Move To Live-Action Sony's animated Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse movie followed in its 2018 predecessor's footsteps by becoming one of the most successful and beloved superhero movies of 2023, clocking in a whopping 95% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. While Across the Spider-Verse continued the stories of Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy, I loved the fact that a new version of Spider-Man also took center-stage, Miguel O'Hara's Spider-Man 2099. In Marvel Comics, Spider-Man 2099 and Deadpool 2099 come from the same world, so I want to see them come together in live-action.
Oscar Isaac voiced Spider-Man 2099 in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Oscar Isaac has played a number of other Marvel characters, including Marc Spector/Steven Grant's Moon Knight in the MCU, and En Sabah Nur, a.k.a. Apocalypse, in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse.
Aside from an incorrect comment referring to Earth-199999 in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and the appearance of Donald Glover's Prowler, I haven't noticed any clear connections between the MCU's main timeline and Sony's Spider-Verse projects. Even so, both have been exploring the multiverse, which makes me think it's possible that they could crossover in the not-too-distant future, perhaps bringing Deadpool 2099 and Spider-Man 2099 together. After Across the Spider-Verse, I want Spider-Man 2099 to get more development, and doing this in live-action would be incredible.
Introducing 2099’s X-Men Would Be A Great Way To Do Something Completely New With The Team The X-Men Team Could Be Completely Reinvented For The MCU By Exploring The 2099 Universe Close Since 2019, Marvel Studios has had the opportunity to introduce the X-Men into the MCU, following Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox. While this hasn't happened yet, I've spotted several different multiversal versions of the X-Men team, including those from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' Earth-838, The Marvels' post-credits scene universe, and the Worst Wolverine's homeworld in Deadpool & Wolverine. After Deadpool 2099's debut, I'm hopeful that a very different version of the X-Men could now also appear in the MCU.
Related Why My Dream MCU X-Men Team Leaves Out Wolverine (& Yours Should Too) I"ve worked out which version of Marvel"s X-Men team should be introduced to the MCU - and it doesn"t include any version of Wolverine.
1993's X-Men 2099 in Marvel Comics introduced an unrecognizable version of the mutant superhero team, comprised of heroes such as Desert Ghost, Bloodhawk, Meanstreak, Metalhead and Serpentina, among others, all led by Skullfire. I'm obsessed with this darker and grittier version of the X-Men, and I think it would be incredible to see them in the MCU, especially since none of these heroes have ever been seen in live-action before. This could even be the version of the team that Marvel Studios introduces in the MCU's main timeline, doing something completely new to distance the MCU's X-Men from Fox's iterations.
Earth-2099’s Debut Could Explain Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom Casting Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom Casting Has Caused Some Confusion Exploring the 2099 universe in the MCU could even provide an excellent explanation for Robert Downey Jr.'s recent recasting. I was truly shocked to hear that Robert Downey Jr. would be returning as an entirely new character, let along a villain of the magnitude of Doctor Doom. This casting has confused many of us, with theories emerging suggesting he could be a Tony Stark variant, a completely new Victor Von Doom, an adopted sibling, or some other wild idea. Now, I reckon Deadpool 2099's debut in Deadpool & Wolverine could be key to explaining Downey Jr.'s return.

Marvel's 2099-set storylines also included a version of Doctor Doom, as Von Doom materialized in the year 2099 after disappearing several decades earlier. Introducing Robert Downey Jr. as Doom 2099, perhaps a version of Victor Von Doom who disappeared in the 1960s, reflecting The Fantastic Four: First Steps' new setting, would certainly work for me. This would be an amazing way of differentiating the MCU's Doctor Doom from Fox's past versions, and could branch out into the multiverse even further, which I would love to see before the Multiverse Saga ends.
